Nestor Jaramillo, Jr. has been a key player in medical device commercialization for more than 20 years and has led commercial organizations in both startup and multinational companies.

Prior to joining CHF Solutions (now Nuwellis), Mr. Jaramillo was president and CEO of Innerspace Neuro Solutions, Inc., a Tustin, Calif.-based commercial-stage medical technology company that developed, manufactured, and distributed an intracranial pressure monitoring system. He also worked in a variety of capacities at startup Transoma Medical, St. Jude Medical, and Medtronic.

In addition, Mr. Jaramillo also spent seven years as a managing director of healthcare investment banking at both Cherry Tree & Associates and Craig-Hallum Capital, both in Minneapolis.

Mr. Jaramillo holds an electrical engineering degree from the University of North Dakota and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.

Rob Scott

Rob Scott joined CHF Solutions (now Nuwellis) in 2013, and has held various positions of increasing responsibility in finance, strategic planning, and financial reporting.  He was instrumental in the acquisition of the CHF Solutions assets from Baxter in 2016, and played a lead role in the financial planning and integration success of Nuwellis. In September 2023, Rob was promoted to Chief Financial Officer.

Rob has over 20 years of finance and accounting experience in start-ups and global multi-billion dollar organizations, primarily in the healthcare and medical device industries. In addition to his previous 10 years at Nuwellis, Rob spent 5 years at UnitedHealth Group in various finance roles. Additionally, Rob led the finance organization for a digital marketing start-up company and successfully owned, operated, and sold a start-up business.

Mr. Scott is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Entrepreneurial Studies.

Neil P. Ayotte, Esq. joined Nuwellis as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer in June 2021. With over 30 years of experience as a lawyer and business leader, Mr. Ayotte has devoted more than 16 years to the medical device industry. Prior to joining Nuwellis, Mr. Ayotte was Executive Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel of Bluestem Group, Inc., a publicly-traded online retailer with over $1 billion in sales. Before joining Bluestem, Mr. Ayotte worked with Medtronic plc, the world’s largest medical device company, where he served in positions of increasing responsibility including Vice President of Corporate & Securities, Deputy General Counsel, Interim General Counsel, and Chief Counsel of the Americas Region, the largest of Medtronic’s four super regions. Earlier in his career, Mr. Ayotte was a partner in the corporate law department of the Minneapolis-based Maslon law firm.

Mr. Ayotte received his law degree from the University of Minnesota, a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, and a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, summa cum laude.

Sandra Eayrs joined CHF Solutions (now Nuwellis) in 2014 as Director of Human Resources and was appointed to VP of Human Resources in 2015. Promoted to Chief Human Resources Officer in 2022. She is responsible for all aspects of human resources management for the organization and is an advisor to the leadership team in advancing organization capabilities and effectiveness.

Sandra brings more than 20 years of human resources experience in the medical device and other high-tech manufacturing industries. She has held various HR roles with increasing levels of responsibility within Rosemount, Graco, Boston Scientific, and most recently, St. Jude Medical. Additionally, Sandra launched a successful consulting practice utilizing her extensive HR experience and business acumen to consult with multiple clients from small to large Fortune 500 companies in a variety of industries.

Mrs. Eayrs received a Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin.

John Kowalczyk joined Nuwellis in October of 2021 as the Western Regional Vice President of Sales.  In January 2022, John assumed the additional role of Vice President of Sales while also maintaining responsibility for the Western Region.

John has over 3 decades of sales and business leadership experience highlighted by 19 years at Medtronic where he led the Neuromodulation Sales team executing launch strategies for new and existing therapies like InterStim for urinary incontinence, Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson’s disease, Spinal Cord Stimulation and Targeted Drug Delivery for the treatment of chronic pain and spasticity.  John has led other Sales teams from Electromed and dorsaVi.  Most recently he Sr. Vice President of Global Sales for Smith’s Medical.

John graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BA in International Relations and a specialization in International Business.

John is passionate about leading medical sales teams, executing strategies that increase clinician awareness and adoption that ultimately benefit patients in need.  Nuwellis, with SmartFlow ultrafiltration technology, provides a transformational solution for those appropriately indicated patients suffering from Fluid Overload or hypervolemia.

Mr. Duhoux spent 7 years with Edwards Lifesciences in several senior marketing and sales positions, launching new products and building the European market for those products. Prior to his Edwards experience, Mr. Duhoux spent 18 years with Gambro Renal Products, with the last four years as Vice President of the Intensive Care Business.

Mr. Duhoux is fluent in English, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. He holds a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Lyon, France, and an executive MBA from EM Lyon Business School.

Megan Cotts joined Nuwellis in September 2021 as the Director of Clinical Research and was appointed the Vice President of Clinical Research and Reimbursement role in 2022. Megan is responsible for all aspects of clinical strategies, research activities, clinical studies, and physician-initiated projects as well as health economic and reimbursement outcomes.

Megan has over 17 years of clinical research experience, clinical strategy development, leadership, and program management. She has successfully lead research teams in over 30 clinical trial programs with cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, surgical technologies, neuromodulation/neurology, orthopedics, and urology related medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and combination biologics.

Megan graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology & Biology. She also maintains certifications from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) as a Certified Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) and the Project Management Institute (PMI) as a Project Management Professional (PMP).

Megan is passionate about leading clinical research teams to bring transformative medical therapies to patients worldwide.

Dr. John Lynn Jefferies is the Jay M. Sullivan Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine and Chief of Cardiology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). He also serves as Co-Director of the Methodist University of Tennessee Cardiovascular Institute and the Methodist Cardiovascular Service Line. Dr. Jefferies is also a Professor of Pediatric Cardiology and a Research Member of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Dr. Jefferies graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and did his Residency and Fellowships at the University of Kentucky in Lexington and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Prior to joining UT Methodist, he was a Professor at the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Jefferies has published nearly 250 articles and abstracts on a variety of topics and has authored chapters in over 15 textbooks.

John Erb

John Erb has served as chief executive officer and president of the Company since November 2015, as a director of the Company since September 2012, and as Chairman of the Board since October 2012. Mr. Erb has over 40 years of experience in the medical device industry, executive leadership, and financial management.

Previously, Mr. Erb served as chief executive officer (from 2007 to 2018) of NuAx, Inc. (formerly Cardia Access, Inc.), a medical device company involved in developing new devices for the treatment of heart disease; he was executive chairman of the board (during 2007) and chief executive officer (from 2001 to 2006) of the previous owner of the Aquadex FlexFlow System, which was also known as CHF Solutions, Inc. (now Nuwellis), a medical device company involved in the development, manufacturing and distribution of devices to treat congestive heart failure; as president and chief executive officer of IntraTherapeutics, Inc., a medical device company involved in the development, manufacturing and distribution of peripheral vascular stents, from 1997 to 2001; and in various positions, including as vice president of worldwide operations at Schneider, a division of Pfizer, Inc., from 1991 to 1997.

Mr. Erb serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Osprey Medical, a public Australian company listed on the ASX. Mr. Erb previously served on the Board of Directors of Vascular Solutions (acquired by Teleflex in 2017), SenoRx, Inc. (acquired by CR Bard in 2010), and CryoCath Technologies (acquired by Medtronic in 2008).

Mr. Erb has a B.A. degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton.

Dr. Costanzo is the medical director, Heart Failure Research, at Advocate Heart Institute, and the medical director for Advanced Heart Failure at Edward Hospital Center in Illinois. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Heart Failure Society of America. In addition, she is a member of several medical societies and a fellow with the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, American Heart Association, and the European Society of Cardiology, and a Gold Member of the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology. Dr. Costanzo has over 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and manuscripts. She received her medical degree with honors from Facolta’ Di Medicina e Chirurgia dell’ Universita’ di Bologna, Bologna, Italy.

Mr. Waller has over 35 years of financial and management experience with an emphasis in financial management, accounting, treasury, and mergers/acquisitions. He was Chief Financial Officer of Universal Building Products, a manufacturer of concrete construction accessories, from March 2006 until April 2011 where he implemented several cost savings initiatives that saved the company several million dollars. Previous to this position, he had been in retirement except for board of director positions. Prior, Mr. Waller served as the Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance, and Treasurer of Sybron Dental Specialties, Inc., a manufacturer and marketer of consumable dental products. At Sybron he was instrumental in a variety of initiatives including being instrumental in the IPO of the company, over 30 company acquisitions worldwide and sales growth from $10 million to over $750 million during his twenty-five-year tenure at Sybron. He was the Vice President of European Operations for Kerr (a subsidiary of Sybron) and Vice President and Controller at Ormco (also a subsidiary of Sybron) during his time at Sybron. Mr. Waller has an MBA with a concentration in accounting from California State University, Fullerton.

Mr. Waller currently serves as a board member and audit committee chairman for Endologix, Inc. He previously served as a board member and audit committee chairman for Alsius, Inc., Biolase, Inc., Cardiogenesis Inc., Clarient, Inc. and SenRx, Inc., all publicly traded companies.

Mike McCormick is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in leading medical device companies and serving as a board member for several private and publicly traded life science companies.

From 2010 to 2022 Mike served as CEO of Osprey Medical, an Interventional Cardiology commercial stage medical device company, publicly traded, and focused on technologies to reduce Contrast Induced Acute Kidney Injury.

From 2003 to 2008, he was CEO of Anulex Technologies Inc., a private company focused on developing proprietary technologies to support the healing of spinal soft tissues that was successfully sold to Boston Scientific.

Prior to this Mike was President of Centerpulse Spine-Tech a publicly traded full line supplier of innovative spinal technologies. Mike was involved in the successful sale of Centerpulse Spine-Tech to Zimmer in the fall of 2003.

Early in his career Mike worked at Boston Scientific Scimed and Baxter Health Care where he served in a variety of sales and sales management roles.  Mike received his Bachelor of Business Administration, Business Management from The University of Texas at Austin.

Mike is a member of the Board of Directors of Osprey Medical, Inc., and Formae, Inc.  Previous Board experience includes Chairman of OrthoCor Medical which was sold in 2019, Director Cardio Renal Society of America and Board of Anulex Technologies, Inc.

Dr. Archelle Georgiou is a physician who wakes up every day with a mission to empower people to make informed medical decisions. With over 16 years of experience as a TV medical correspondent, she’s produced and aired more than 2000 segments that simplify complex healthcare information for viewers. Archelle has also been featured on CNN, Fox & Friends, and Good Morning America, and has shared her thought leadership at events hosted by the World Bank, Mayo Clinic, Gallup, and Thinc360.

As a nationally recognized consumer advocate, Archelle is passionate about helping people make data-driven decisions. In 2009, she was a part of National Geographic/Blue Zones expedition to Ikaria, Greece where she helped uncover the secrets of healthy aging and longevity. Archelle is the author of the book Health Care Choices: 5 Steps to Getting the Medical Care You Want and Need, which teaches readers how to use her CARES Model – a five-step approach to making medical choices that are both evidence-based and aligned with personal preferences.

In March 2020, Archelle co-founded the University of Minnesota COVID-19 Hospitalization Tracking Project to collect and analyze data on COVID-19 hospitalizations across all 50 states, earning her two silver Stevie awards for “Most Valuable Non-Profit Response” and “Most Valuable Service.” Through Georgiou Consulting, Archelle offers strategic advisory services to companies committed to consumer-centered care. She uses her medical knowledge, industry experience, and data skills to amplify her clients’ value proposition, product differentiators, and proof points across sectors and diverse client relationships.

Archelle has held leadership positions in managed care, investment banking, and medical device companies, including serving as Chief Medical Officer and senior executive at UnitedHealth Group, healthcare advisor for TripleTree, and Chief Health Officer at Starkey Hearing Technologies. She currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Children’s Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota and Executive in Residence at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.

Archelle is recognized for her contributions to the healthcare industry and has been honored with several awards, including the 2014 Champion Award among Minnesota Business Healthcare Leaders, Women in Business Award by the Minneapolis-St Paul Business Journal in 2021, and the Women’s Health Leadership Trust Forum Award for her exceptional efforts to transform the healthcare industry in 2022.

Archelle holds a degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and was board-certified in Internal Medicine. She’s the proud mother of three adult daughters, grandmother of three granddaughters, and lives with her husband, David, in New York and Minnesota.

Dave serves as Head of Life Science Investment Banking. His extensive industry and Capital Markets experience provide a unique perspective to our Lake Street clients. Dave most recently served as a Senior Financial and Business Development Executive for SillaJen Biotherapeutics, Delcath Systems and AngioDynamics where he raised almost $200 million in capital and successfully negotiated a number of global partnerships and acquisitions. In addition, he has more than 25 years of Capital Markets experience serving the needs of emerging growth companies as a Healthcare Investment Banker, Equity Research Analyst, and Investor with RBC Capital Markets, Craig-Hallum, Canaccord Genuity and American Express. Dave received his BA in Economics from St. Olaf College.

Dr. Daniel Beckles is a senior cardiothoracic surgeon at Baylor Scott & White Health in Central Texas. He obtained his MD degree from SUNY Downstate Medical School in Brooklyn NYC and stayed there for his Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Molecular and Cell Biology and General Surgery residency. His Cardiothoracic Surgery residency was at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He spent an additional year at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital-Instructor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School before his first attending position at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC. He spent 5 years at UT Medical Branch in Galveston Texas and was then Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NYC.

Dr. Beckles has published in textbooks, peer-reviewed journals, and has 2 US patents on heart diseases. His focus is on clinical excellence, education, and research. His expertise is in the management of end-stage heart disease, multiorgan failure, and surgical leadership. He is double boarded by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

Dr. Beckles is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Trinbago Progressive Association, President-elect of the SUNY Downstate Alumni Board of Managers, Advisor for Noigel, and consultant for CHF Solutions (now Nuwellis) and Edwards Lifesciences.

Dr. Steven G. Coca is a graduate of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his medical residency and clinical nephrology fellowship at Yale University and Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. He also received a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology and Public Health during his training at Yale, later serving as an Assistant Professor in the Section of Nephrology until his recruitment to Mount Sinai in 2014 as Associate Professor. Currently, Dr. Coca is the Director for Clinical Research for the Division of Nephrology and is the Associate Chair for Clinical and Translational Research for the Department of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Coca’s research has focused on using novel biomarkers to improve risk stratification in patients with acute kidney injury and patients at risk or with prevalent chronic kidney disease. He has been continually funded by the NIH over the last decade for multiple biomarker-related projects. He is the co-founder of RenalytixAI.

Dr. Maria DeVita is the Chief of the Division of Nephrology Department of Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. She is the training program Director for Nephrology within the Department of Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital and a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Zucker Hofstra/Northwell School of Medicine.

Dr. DeVita is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology, active in the American Society of Hypertension with board appointments, and has held leadership appointments in the New York Society of Nephrology. She is a member of the Medical Advisory Board of Kidney and Urologic Foundation of America, the Medical Advisory Board of the National Kidney Foundation of Greater New York, and the National Kidney Foundation.

Dr. DeVita is recognized as an international authority in adult nephrology and hypertension. Her research and expertise focus on topics including glomerular disease, acute and chronic renal failure, dialysis, hypertension, and fluid management. She has authored/co-authored countless peer-reviewed clinical papers. She serves on the editorial board of several scientific journals and as a peer reviewer for multiple journals. She has lectured worldwide on topics related to nephrology and been named Top Doc in New York Metro and by New York Magazine.

Dr. Sitaramesh Emani is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Ohio State University with dual training in both Advanced Heart Failure/Cardiac Transplant as well as Interventional Cardiology. He also serves as the Director of Heart Failure Clinical Research.

Dr. Emani’s interests include device-based therapies for heart failure patients, including mechanical circulatory support, remote monitoring technologies, other implantable technologies, and devices to treat acute heart failure.

Most recently, Dr. Emani is spearheading the Cardiogenic Shock team at OSU.

Dr. Aroti Hegde is a nephrologist at MedStar Health. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, with a subspecialty in Nephrology and by the American Society of Hypertension, as a specialist in clinical hypertension. Dr. Hegde is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Society of Nephrology, International Society of Nephrology, and the American Society of Hypertension.

Dr. Hegde received her medical degree from Bangalore University in Bangalore, India. She completed her residency at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where she also served as chief resident in Internal Medicine. Dr. Hegde completed a fellowship in Nephrology at Duke University Medical Center. Among her many achievements, she received the Joe H. Gaskin Excellence In Teaching Award from both the Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

Dr. Brian Jaski earned undergraduate degrees in electrical engineering and biology at MIT. He graduated from Harvard Medical School where he subsequently went on to do his cardiology fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Since 1985, Dr. Jaski has been the medical director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Program at Sharp Memorial Hospital associated with the San Diego Cardiac Center.

Dr. Jaski has published in the areas of therapies for decompensated heart failure, circulatory support devices, and cardiac transplant. He is board-certified in the subspecialty of Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant.

Dr. Amir Kazory is Professor of Medicine and Vice-Chief of Clinical Affairs in the Division of Nephrology, Hypertension, and Renal Transplantation at the University of Florida. His main research interest is the nephrologic aspects of heart failure, disorders of water homeostasis, cardiorenal syndrome, and the interactions between kidney and heart in various pathologic settings.

Dr. Kazory has been involved in clinical research projects including those related to extracorporeal and pharmacologic therapies that are currently offered to patients with cardiorenal syndrome and other disorders of water homeostasis and congestive states. He regularly provides talks on these topics at various national and international conferences in the US and overseas.

Mehdi Oloomi

Dr. Mehdi Oloomi has been a Cardiothoracic Intensivist for the last eighteen years. He has been the Medical Director of Cardiothoracic ICU in Maimonides Medical Center, St. Michael’s Medical Center, and most recently at Mount Sinai Medical Center-Main Campus for the past nine years.

Dr. Oloomi is very involved in the concept of cardiac team and closed ICU related to post-op management. His training in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine along with his extensive experience provides a unique perspective in the care of cardiothoracic surgery patients.

Dr. Oloomi’s areas of interest include Cardiac Surgery Associated Acute Kidney Injury (CSA-AKI) and Hemostasis/ Coagulopathy. He has been extensively involved in the development of protocols for Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT).

Nestor Jaramillo, Jr. has been a key player in medical device commercialization for more than 20 years and has led commercial organizations in both startup and multinational companies.

Prior to joining CHF Solutions, Mr. Jaramillo was president and CEO of Innerspace Neuro Solutions, Inc., a Tustin, Calif.-based commercial-stage medical technology company that developed, manufactured and distributed an intracranial pressure monitoring system.  He also worked in a variety of capacities at startup Transoma Medical, St. Jude Medical, and at Medtronic.

In addition, Mr. Jaramillo also spent seven years as a managing director of healthcare investment banking at both Cherry Tree & Associates and Craig-Hallum Capital, both in Minneapolis.

Mr. Jaramillo holds an electrical engineering degree from the University of North Dakota and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.
