SIMPLIFIED
ULTRAFILTRATION
WITH AQUADEX®

THIS IS THE NEW WELL

When the body is struggling with fluid overload, simplified ultrafiltration with the Aquadex SmartFlow® System can be a life-changing alternative to diuretics and other, more complicated renal replacement technologies.

WHAT IS SIMPLIFIED ULTRAFILTRATION?

Simplified ultrafiltration using the Aquadex System is a clinically proven therapy for treating fluid overload. Aquadex removes excess fluid, mainly water and salt, from your body and assists in restoring proper fluid balance (euvolemia). Studies on simplified ultrafiltration using the Aquadex System have shown that the therapy:

Aquadex SmartFlow System
  • Is a safe and effective strategy for decongesting patients2
  • Superior to diuretics in both fluid removal and weight loss1
  • Decreases worsening heart failure and heart failure-related rehospitalizations
    • Demonstrates a sustained advantage between 30 days and 1-year compared to diuretic therapy1
  • Delivers predictable outcomes

HOW DOES THE AQUADEX SYSTEM WORK?

The Aquadex System is a medical technology comprised of a console, a blood circuit set, and a catheter. A clinician prescription is required to receive Aquadex therapy.

Aquadex Therapy

  1. Device connects to a catheter to withdraw blood containing excess fluid
  2. Blood passes through a special filter
  3. Filter separates blood from excess salt and water
  4. Blood is returned to the body

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THERAPY?

Therapy may be completed at the hospital or at an outpatient center. Duration may vary from up to 8 hours during an outpatient visit to several days during a hospital admission. You may experience minor discomfort from the catheter.

Simplified ultrafiltration therapy has given me peace of mind and comfort through these challenging times. It has allowed my father to quickly regain the life activities that he so cherishes.

Daughter of an Aquadex patient

I couldn't believe it when I saw all that water coming out of the machine. Did I spring a leak or what? Now, I'll be able to enjoy my life. If no one believes in miracles anymore, that is too bad. That machine saved my life.
